THE Cub Report – Here We Go Again

Well, here we are, just you, and me, and a few thousand other people, so I guess I’ll say “Thank You!” for making the jump over to Big Squid for THE Cub Report. So strap on in and lets light this candle…

First up, main man at BSRC Brian Smolik will be featured on this Sunday’s episode of “Collectors Call”. You can watch Brian and his daughter Tiffany on your local MeTV channel rubbing elbows with the ridiculously hot Lisa Whelchel (Blair from the Facts of Life) talking about his insane Pac Man collection. Yes, Brian is a massive collector in the gaming industry, be sure to watch Collectors Call this Sunday to see just how insane his collection is. Click This Link to learn more…

Full sized F1 racing? I truly love F1, but their season won’t get going until July 3rd in Austria. However, Monster Energy Supercross is in full swing and has been doing 2 races per week to catch back up on their series. Right now all the riders are hang’n in Utah and there are just two round left before the winners are crowned. Eli Tomac seems to have the big boy class all wrapped up, but Honda’s Ken Roczen and KTM’s Cooper Webb have been trying to make things interesting. K-Roc announced that he had Shingles last week, so he has not been at full tilt for the last several races, but he went out last night and dominated. Keep your eye on NBC Sports to watch the racing live, then the AMA motocross nationals kick off on July 18th at Ironman Raceway in Indiana. Oh yes, live racing is Always a good thing to watch!

In rc news I am giving the win last week to Axial Racing with the announcement of the RTR version of their Jeep JLU Wrangler. The RTR Wrangler comes on the SCX10 II chassis that sports high-clearance portal style axles, as well as a number of newer scale accent items (scale V8 engine cover, inner fenders, etc). The kit version has been very popular and I expect the RTR to total fly off the shelves as well. The RTR Wrangler looks awesome and should be top-notch while out on the trail, or when doing dedicated rock crawling.

Next up for cool new releases was the Kyosho MP10e buggy kit. The “e” version of the MP10 means that it is electric powered, with many of its parts coming from its nitro powered brother. I mention the MP10e kit here because there are a whole lot of bashers who prefer using an electric 1/8th buggy platform for going big, and this Kyosho should be one of the highest-end kits on the market. Kyosho basically owned the 1/8 world championships for more than a decade and their 1/8th scalers nearly always have a sterling reputation. If you go hard with your 1/8 buggies, take a good look at Kyosho’s new MP10e, it might be a great fit for your rc garage.

Ya know, the scale revolution just keeps on changing the game. There was a time when a “driver figure” would have been completely scoffed at, but now days, they are nearly a required scale accessory. Just why do I bring this up? For two reasons. First off, I am still blown away by how our industry has changed towards scale realism over the last decade. Secondly, Cross RC dropped an absolutely mind blowing 1/7 sized driver figure for their upcoming UT4 large scaler last week. The Cross driver figure is incredibly scale detailed and seems to be the perfect size for the UT4. Truly incredible the scale realism that is hitting the market now days!

That’s all for now ya bunch of lunatics, until next week support the hobby any way that ya can.
